Horizon Compact Wireless Ethernet

The Horizon Compact is Dragonwave's latest licensed wireless backhaul that revolutionizes the market with a high capacity native Ethernet system that offers improved economics and simplified operations.  A zero-footprint platform integrates the radio and modem into a single compact outdoor-unit and reduces cost by approximately 30%.  Increased capacity (700 Mbps FCC), simplifies installation and operation and improved troubleshooting means lower lifecycle costs.  Horizon Compact is a highly integrated, carrier grade solution for Ethernet backhaul using licensed spectrum.

Horizon Compact operates in the 11, 18 & 23 GHz licensed bands.  Horizon allows one to obtain a maximum throughput of 350 Mbps (700 Mbps with DPRM) on a single 50 MHz channel link path.  Like AirPair, Horizon retains the FLEX methodology by allowing one to get into a Horizon radio at a capacity of 10 Mbps allowing one to buy only as much bandwidth as is needed today while maintaining future-proof scalability through incremental software upgrades to the maximum allowed capacity.

The DragonWave Horizon backhaul primarily operates in licensed spectrum under FCC Part 101 rules, which allows for interference-free communication.  Under Part 101, point-to-point backhauls can be cost-effectively licensed on a per-link basis.  CTI can obtain Part 101 point-to-point licenses for most entities. Click here for more information on the Part 101 licensing process.
