Dragonwave AirPair

AirPair by DragonWave is a two-piece licensed wireless backhaul that consists of a modem and radio head.  AirPair operates in the 11, 18 & 23 GHz licensed bands and the 24 GHz unlicensed band.  AirPair allows one to obtain a maximum throughput of 200 Mbps (400 Mbps with DPRM) on a single 50 MHz channel link path.  AirPair also provide maximum flexibility by allowing one to "buy in" at a FLEX package in 10 Mbps increments.

Although the Radio Head is always mounted outdoors, AirPair comes in two versions, indoor and outdoor.  This refers to the configuration of the modem unit.

AirPair IDU version: The indoor modem version consists of a 19" rack mountable unit that sits "inside" and is connected via 50 ohm coaxial IF to the Radio Head.
AirPair ODU version: The outdoor version is a PoE outdoor rated modem that sits "outside" and connects to the Radio Head via a short 50 ohm coaxial IF jumper cable.

The DragonWave AirPair backhaul primarily operates in licensed spectrum under FCC Part 101 rules, which allows for interference-free communication.  Under Part 101, point-to-point backhauls can be cost-effectively licensed on a per-link basis.  CTI can obtain Part 101 point-to-point licenses for most entities. Click here for more information on the Part 101 licensing process.
